Catcott has a new Village Agent to provide confidential advice and support for a range of services. He is Alex Ward who writes: “I am the new Village Agent for the parishes of Bawdip, Cossington, Burtle, Edington, Chilton Polden,  Catcott, Stawell, Sutton Mallett, Shapwick, Moorlinch, Greinton and Ashcott.

“Village Agents are here to support everyone living in rural communities  who are unable, for whatever reason, to connect with key services and support agencies that help maintain well being and a good standard of living. The project is supported by the Community Council for Somerset (CCS) and is part funded by The Big Lottery.

“As Village Agents are required to live close to their village clusters, they are able to provide face to face information and support. All advice and help is offered with complete confidentiality.

“If you or anyone you know needs help with any of the following- Home Safety, Transport,  Leisure, Health Issues,  Social Care, Pensions and Benefits,  Volunteering, Housing and much more.   For example, if you need a fire safety check, we can refer you to the Devon and Somerset Fire Service who will call round and check your smoke alarms, or if you want to start a community project for your village CCS is able to do a grant search to help identify funds to get you started.

“Please don’t hesitate to contact me on 07746 332897 or email Alex@somersetcc.org.uk“.
